This track meet consists of 12 events for boys and girls based strictly
on time, distance, and/or height. The closer the individual comes to
the school record, the more points he or she will score. If the
individual matches or exceeds the record, he or she will score 1,000
points, the maximum number of points to achieve.
Contestants should study the following pentathlon table and pick
those five (5) events in which they feel they can score the most points.
If contestants participate in more than five (5) events, they will
disqualify themselves from the meet.
Pick five (5) events carefully beforehand because once you enter an
event, that counts as one of your five events even if you drop out.
The boy or girl scoring the highest number of points in the meet will
receive a trophy. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second, and third
place in each of the events. Good luck athletes!
Remember -- All athletes are eligible to compete in five (5) events. Any
athlete who participates in more than five (5) events will be
disqualified from the meet and no longer be eligible for any awards.
We have had some tremendous athletes
participate in our pentathlon meet over the
years. Many of these winners have gone on
into high school and continued to display
great feats in not just track, but in many
other sports as well. Coach Giffin has been
very meticulous about maintaining these
records. Records for the boys go back to
1966.
