Ontario Middle School

Literary Terms/Devices

Students should have a spiral notebook which has been divided into three sections. The first section is reserved for our listing of literary terms/devices with their definitions.  The second section contains class notes, and the third section will have a listing of our vocabulary words. Students will have their notebooks checked periodically and receive quizzes over the terms as we progress thru the year. A pretest over the literary terms will be given the first week of school. Students will begin using these various terms in their assignments and hopefully gain an understanding of each and how each one applies to literature. A posttest will be given in March to demonstrate student growth.
