”The Story of an Eyewitness”
By Jack London
In our text, “The Story of an Eyewitness,” London is an
eyewitness (observer) to the San Francisco earthquake
aftermath and fires. He is informing the readers of what
he actually sees.
Students will once again be expected to annotate their copies of the text by identifying
vocabulary words and providing definitions; labeling various types of figurative language
devices used by London; and identifying key points in the story.
Since this is the second text that students have read by the same author, Jack London,
students will be expected to compare and contrast his writing styles in these two texts as
well as recognize the differences between the two different genres.
